Well hi hello there! There are a bunch of new faces here which means it’s time for a re-introduction. In truth, I’ve been wanting to post a few pics of myself from Des and Phil’s Parisian wedding cause I think I look cute/never get dressed up but didn’t want to seem vain… is it working?

No matter. Hi! I’m Lisa, owner, lead designer, and main gal behind all things LINNAEA.

We are at 15 years and counting of flowering for the sweetest couples, which seems crazy but I can’t imagine doing anything else!

LINNAEA was named such after linnaea borealis, or the “twinflower” as it was my twin sister and I that started this journey together all those many moons ago.

I’m an introvert and self-proclaimed borderline hermit. I love to putter around the house and slowly work on/overthink house projects, but I also love to travel!

My babes and I were married in Scotland with my @the_elopement_co team and just our immediate family in tow about 6.5 years ago. It’s just the two of us and my 16 year old husky mutt, Kaiya (she needs to be immortal for my mental health), and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🫶

We support all types of love here at LINNAEA. We have zero tolerance for hate against minorities and the LGBTQ+ community and prioritize working with couples and creatives that feel the same. Hard stop.

I’m working on stepping into an educational/mentor/coaching role in this floral space to share my years of knowledge and help other designers gain the confidence to charge what they’re worth and run a successful and sustainable business, so stick around!

How much do you think this “simple” 3 ingredient Valentine’s Day arrangement would retail for?

$150? $300? $600???

Standard practice for a successful floral designer is 3-4x markup for fresh product and 1.5x markup for hard goods. I do 3x plus 30% design fee which is about the same as 4x, just more transparent on event proposals.

My recipe:

2 dozen premium ‘Hearts’ roses @ $2.50/stem
10 stems red butterfly ranunculus @ $2.89/stem
10 stems burgundy hanging amaranth @ $1.30/stem
Wholesale total - $102

8” ceramic compote $12 (wholesale)
3” pin frog $20
Misc tape/chicken wire $3
Wholesale total - $35

Total with markup - $460.50
+ 6% MI sales tax and that beaut would be invoiced for $488.13
