Katty + Tim
It took years of struggles to get Tim a VISA, a pandemic, a postponed NYC wedding, and even a pushed back elopement date for Katty and Tim to get to this point, but… *we made it.*
We ticked so many boxes on this one: an airbnb with amazing views, a redwood preserve, and California coastline for days made this an adventure we’ll never forget. Not to mention the major pivot that resulted in a never yet been done ceremony! Katty and Tim are truly the kindest of souls. We say this about a lot of our couples, but it’s true. Open, welcoming, flexible, and oh so in love, these two incredible humans will be in our hearts for the rest of time.

Every year, The Elopement Co gifts an Adventure Elopement to one very lucky couple. It’s partly a way to build our portfolio so we can show future clients just how magical and experience with us can be, but it’s also a thank you to our amazing community for following along with us on this journey of storytelling and magic making.
This past year was a lot different than other years: a worldwide pandemic swept across the globe. Weddings were postponed and cancelled, loved ones were lost, and at the front of it all were first responders and essential workers holding the line so the rest of us could stay safely at home. So instead of focusing on jetting off to lands unknown, this year we decided to stay closer to home, and we focused on giving back to our frontline workers…
This year, we gifted one special frontline working couple the experience of a lifetime:
A Tiny Wedding.
After curating an incredible team of creatives and industry professionals, we put out the call. We asked frontline workers and their partners to tell us their love stories as an entry to the giveaway, and we were blown away by the responses. It was truly such a difficult choice to choose just one couple: each story was so moving, each couple so special, and in the end, to our surprise, we chose a couple that was nominated by the bride’s best friend. Our couple: Natalie, a Registered Nurse in a neuro/cardiac unit caring for patients with long-term effects of Covid, and Alex, a Physician’s Assistant who completed his education in 2020 by assisting in the care of Covid patients in Grand Rapids. He’s now a Trauma and Acute Care Surgery PA-C.
More than their professions, Natalie and Alex are truly the best type of humans. Joyful. Witty. Raw and real. They care deeply for their people and their patients and we are forever grateful to have been bonded by this experience.

Where do I begin? After designing for gorgeous weddings for 8 years, testing out flower combinations and dream design scenarios for hundreds of lucky couples, it simultaneously gets easier and harder to narrow down what you might want for yourself. And that’s exactly what happened to me. I fell in and out of love with color palettes, my style grew and transformed, I wanted to fully design my own wedding day with all the touches that I had loved from previous weddings or ideas that never quite made the cut for other couples. Then I met Eric and started The Elopement Co and after a few conversations, my vision became very clear. While I love big gorgeous weddings and all the pretty details that go along with them, small is where my heart is.
You see, all that stuff I say about eloping isn’t just words. It’s exactly how I feel–Growing up in a small town in Northern Michigan, I cherished the privacy that our home in the woods provided and spent a lot of time playing outside with my sisters and a few close friends. We didn’t focus on material things and didn’t live a luxurious life, but one that was rooted in family and friendship and independence. I think because of this, wedding that are big, over the top productions were never in my comfort zone. I value the privacy that elopements hold. I value intentional, meaningful, heartfelt vows, pretty bouquets, getting dressed up for special occasions, and celebratory champagne. I believe that weddings are for two people in love and their closest humans. So that’s exactly what we did.
We ran off to Scotland. We invited our immediate families and the Elope Co team. I found an amazing restaurant to host our celebratory dinner, got in touch with a local floral designer and grower for my product, scouted locations for our ceremony, and then married my best friend. In the most intimate and meaningful way I knew how. Surrounded by nature, overlooking an old city we were growing to love by the second, on an island that will forever have our hearts.
